I hope you are well. I wanted to thank you for your continued support and readership of JET Numismatics. I have been on a break/hiatus from blogging for quite some time. After the COVID-19 pandemic, lockdown, and other life events, it has kept me away from numismatics and I am hoping to change that this spring.
As some of the other life event constraints exist, I want to continue JET Numismatics, but with a different focus. Going forward, my goal is to publish high quality and informative numismatic content without setting up strict publishing dates. Secondly, I aim to focus my discussions on much older (including ancient) world numismatics, tokens, etc., to broaden the quality and type of content that already exists on my blog. That means my primary focus will not be working on any existing or future content involving United States coins. As you may have noticed, I once again changed the look of the website, and hope you enjoy a more simplistic approach to the design of the blog. Additionally, I am now featuring/highlighting some of the better received content from the past few years, and I am retiring articles and previous content update posts that were not received well or no longer fit these new goals.
Along with my blogging hiatus, I have paused any further production on The JET Numismatics Podcast. The costs and time involved with production, editing, hosting, etc., have become exorbitant and unsustainable. I am interested in restarting the podcast down the road, and I am working on a complete refresh/restart/second season when more affordable and less time consuming options are available. If you have been a reader ever since the blog started in 2015, I prioritize quality over quantity- but not at the expense of the readers. One of the goals of this blog has been to never charge for, have advertising on, or monetize any JET Numismatics content (exceptions being ads set by any website, hosting provider, etc., that I cannot stop and are out of my control) which has been the case for the last seven years- and will continue to remain that way. Finding a reasonable solution to the problems surrounding the podcast is a priority, and I thank all of you for your continued patience and support.
Finally, you may have noticed I also started a blog and podcast on philately (or stamp collecting) called JET Philatelics, that project is also now on a total pause for the same or similar reasons as this blog was. Eventually when I have the free time to manage two blogs and two podcasts simultaneously, both will be up, running and fully operational.
Again, I thank all of you for your support, and I look forward to publishing new blog posts, photos and tweets (@jetnumismatics) in the next few weeks.
